Tatcha: Kyoto Red Silk Lipstick

"Nooks & Crannies" head wrap from The Wrap Life-  here

When my order of Tatcha's Kyoto Red Silk Lipstick($55/3.7grams) and my trip to Kyoto this summer coincided it all just seemed like kismet. Who doesn't love when the universe seems to sanction their beauty splurges?

Tatcha is a luxury skincare brand inspired by geisha beauty rituals and Kyoto Red is their modern interpretation of the geisha's classic red lip.  I love the diamond quilting on the actual lipstick and the elegant black and gold lacquer case. I found it to be very pigmented with the first silky swipe with no discernible scent.  The lipstick feels like a luxury product when held and when applied.  I wore it out and about for a couple days and it stayed intact through lunch with minimal staining once removed.  Yes, I know it's bright. Yes, I love it. My no fail red lip is Nars Cruella lip pencil. Kyoto Red comes in at a close second.

By the time this posts I should be back home ankle deep in laundry.  How are you spending this summer?

After Brunch

Sweater: Banana Republic
Dress:  Target- worn here
Shoes: Cole Haan
Bag: Henri Bendel
Ring: Tiffany&Co.
Nail Polish: Dior Incognito

These pics were taken by my mother aka The Great Illuminator after brunch one Saturday. I think she did the best she could with what she had to work with. Keep in mind that I really only have two looks, which I give you full warning of in my About Me page. It didn't help that there was this guy parked in his car staring at us. The nerve of him conspicuously observing his public surroundings while I tried to take blog pics.

We tried a new brunch spot that morning and it was just meh. The day was salvaged by a trip to TJ Maxx where I found a really cute handbag. I've found some great deals at TJ Maxx (see this bag here) and it usually happens when I'm dragged to the store under duress. I generally prefer to do my shopping from the comfort of my couch. That way I don't have to deal with shopping carts that are non-existent or sales people that pretend not to work in the store when you look like you need help. We went to TJ Maxx to return something my mother bought and I wanted to wait in the car and sleep. I decided against it because I didn't want to wake up from my nap and have to go hunt for her throughout the entire store. The moral of the story is fortune favors those who don't abandon their mothers.

Thanks for stopping by!

Estēe Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick- Envious(340) & Estēe Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer- Hot Coral(10)

Top left- Envious Lipstick (340)
Top right - Envious (340) layered with Garnet Desire Shimmer Gloss (15)
Bottom- Garnet Desire Shimmer Gloss (15)

Estēe Lauder has been the break out star for me this year. They have a nice range of nail polish colors and the pigmented creaminess of their Pure Color Lipsticks is to die for. The Estēe Lauder lady at my local Bloomingdale's counter helped me to pick out the Pure Color Lipstick pictured above in Envious($27/.12oz). They were having a promotion where they included a complimentary lip gloss at no extra charge but they were all out of them for that color. She was kind enough to call around until she found the duo in one of their stores and had it shipped to me. Great customer service for the win!  I generally prefer lipsticks over lip gloss but the Garnet Desire Shimmer Gloss that came with the lipstick is nice enough for me to wear alone, and adds a little extra oomph when layered over the lipstick.

I'm wearing two coats of the Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Hot Coral($21/.3oz) plus a salon top coat in the pictures above.  I had a couple shades that were similar, but nothing quite exactly like Hot Coral. The lady that did my manicure said she loved how smoothly the polish applied. I think Hot Coral is a great summer nail polish color that you could also wear to the office. I will definitely be adding more Pure Color Nail Lacquer colors to my small but growing collection.

Have you tried anything from Estēe Lauder lately?

Hello there. So we made it to June. Only six more months of 2015 to go. I know, I know. I'm not rushing you. It was a long and tiring week so I am really looking forward to doing a whole lot of nothing this weekend and hanging out in my happy place above.  At least that's the plan until the reality of laundry and my empty refrigerator kicks in.  Thanks for stopping by!
