Hello February!

This is what I wore to see the movie Paddington. I loved the movie so much I came home and bought the book from this online book store Thrift Books.  I had no idea there were thrift bookstores online but that is just another reason I love the Internet. The book was described as being in good condition. It was $3.45 and the shipping and handling was free. I'll keep you posted.

No spoilers here but Downtown Abbey fans who see the movie will enjoy seeing Robert Crawley as the father, Mr. Brown.   The story the movie is based on has Paddington in my favorite city London, so it was probably a given that I was going to like it.  I've seen the Paddington Bears around but I don't recall reading any of the Paddington stories.  I remember reading a lot of stories about Anansi, The Adventures of Tintin, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys as a child but no Paddington.

What about you? Tell me about some of your favorite childhood books.

Edited to add: The book arrived within the time frame promised(8-14 days). It was obviously
previously loved by a little girl who lived in Newburyport, MA- she wrote her address in the book in pencil, which gives the book some added charm. All the pages are intact and unmarked so I am pleased and will definitely check them out again.

I dont remember much about childhood books, i feel like i didnt really start to truly enjoy reading till i read Jane Austen and Shakespeare, but I remember spending hours at the library as a kid. How weird. You look amazing as always.

    1. Thank you Neo! Yes the shoes are Sam & Libby from Target ☺ It's not weird at all. I can't remember much of the Shakespeare that I studied in school.

  3. Such a beautiful outfit for a movie date. The jeans look so cute and comfy and I'm not surprised at the contents of your cute purse...:-). Target is my newly discovered place to shop for shoes...:-)
I read the same books as a kid but never read Paddington too. The adventures of Tintin are my favorite comics till this day and I still watch the movies (cartoon) with my kids. The movies are perfect adaptations of the comic book.

  4. Loving your hair btw & that bag! Where do you get these treasures from! ... Oh just read Marshalls lol :)

When I was a child I read mostly fairy tale stories and fables (still do). My dad loved reading me the story about 'The Magic Stone' aka Stone Soup from the 'Read It Yourself' line and he seemed to enjoy it more than me lol! My dad told me a lot of Anansi tales from his memory (very funny) and I loved watching 'Grizzly tales for gruesome kids' on TV - best one = Bunty Porker.

Other books I enjoyed included 'The Princess and The Goblin', Chinese Cinderella (a must read - a true story) and Terry Pratchett's The Colour of Magic. I've read many others but those books stand out the most for me.

I love getting thrift books - I bought a few myself (ex library books) and they were in better condition than some books I owned myself - plus the price is amazing - I paid for shipping on mine so that pushed the price up but it still was a bargain.

Great post! The Paddington movie looks cute!
