The night before I wore this outfit I didn't sleep well.  I was up worrying about something even though I was fairly confident that it was going to work out for me. I wouldn't know for sure until the following day and the waiting was keeping me up. Now generally speaking I am not a worrier, and I do not usually have trouble sleeping. I tend to usually have an everything works out in the end attitude and I can sleep standing up if I need to. So, you can imagine my discomfort that night as I tossed and turned. Morning finally came and brought with it confirmation that there was no need for me to have been concerned. This made me annoyed at myself for losing sleep. It also reminded me that worrying is always pointless.

Thanks for stopping by. A holiday weekend is right around the corner( Yipeee!!!). Don't worry be happy  :).

"Fortune is arranging matters for us better than we could have shaped our desires ourselves"

Top: Target
Pants: New York & Company
Shoes: Tory Burch
Necklace: The Loft

I  took these photos on a lovely windy day. It was the kind of day that would make you want to leave work to fly a kite. I don't have a kite so I stayed at work.

I have a couple of personal and professional projects coming to a head in the next couple weeks and I'm keeping myself calm by telling myself that everything always works out as it should.

Take this shirt for example. I bought it ages ago and every now and then I would kinda remember it but, I never knew exactly where to find it  until I did a massive clean out of my closet recently and voila there it was. The perfect shirt for a beautiful windy day :).

Thanks for stopping by!

What to do after the Olympics

Now that the Olympics are over and I know more about horse jumping than I ever wanted to know, it's time to get back to business. The business of finding nice things to wear.

You know that scene in Modern Family where the one guy doesn't want to go to Costco and then when he gets there the other guy can't get him to leave. That is pretty much what happens every time somebody asks me to go with them to Marshalls.

Do I have a problem with Marshalls? Absolutely not. Do I prefer to spend double the price for the same thing somewhere else?  No. So what is it? Well it's just that when it comes to shopping I am not a hunter, a gatherer, a pick upper off of the floor-er or a wait forever to find somebody to tell there's a seven and a seven and a half in the same box which yes, is a problem for me type of person.  These are all experiences I've had at various Marshalls so although I know you can find great deals there and I'm sure they've come a long way over the years, I am usually a little hesitant to go there.

Person(doesn't matter who):  Hey let's go to Marshalls
Me:                                          Makes face as if I've just been told that I have to pick one of the five
senses to do without for the rest of my life.

Person:                                    Don't look at me like that. We'll go to a good one.
Me:                                          I'll wait in the car
Person:                                    Whatever.......

Me:                                          It's now five hours later, I didn't wait in the car.  I am in fact in
the Marshalls in the back by the sheets(my second favorite section)
when they announce that the register will be closing in fifteen
minutes which sends me into a mild panic because I have no
idea where the person I came with is, my phone is dead, and my arms
are filled with shoes, bags, body washes(favorite section), an
assortment of teas and specialty nuts and I have things to try on and I
don't have a basket because I refused to get one because you know.... I
                                                didn't want to come.

Person:                                    Who has already checked out and sees me all wide eyed and manic
with my arms filled to the brim, because it's now ten minutes before
closing and the line is to the back of the store.
I'll be waiting in the car

Yep, that's pretty much how it plays out every time. It was during one such scene that I picked up those shoes above. I live for a wedge heel and I love grey so those two at 50% off the retail price were definitely coming home with me.

I picked up all three of the necklaces above during The Loft's friend and family sale. I wore the last one to work and got quite a few compliments on it. When this place has a sale it's awesome.

So how are you guys getting over the Olympics ? :)

Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow

This e card just about sums up these last couple of weeks for me. So I'm going to do my best to ease myself back into blogging. And what better way to do that than with my absolute favorite past time/distraction/obsession-NAIL POLISH.  Because it doesn't matter how busy, exhausted, unmotivated, sick, distraught or distracted I may be there's always time for a manicure.**

Ergo I give you my nail looks for the past couple of weeks:

Chanel Frenzy

Chanel Frenzy

I had my doubts about this one. These taupeish, muddy grey colors tend to be more miss than hit on me, but I saw it on Micheleista The Beauty Hunter and I was sold.

butter London- trout pout

This was my first butter London color. I also picked up Snog and Teddy Girl. Trout pout in the swatches online looked like more of a peach color. On me it was a bright happy look at me pink.

deborah lippman-It's Raining Men

This was my favorite these last couple weeks. Yes, the name had something to do with it. It's a bright tomato red, and every time I caught a look at my hands during the day it would make me smile.

Rescue Beauty Lounge-Sheer Nude

Last but not least we have RBL Sheer Nude. I've worn this one before here and I think this is going to be my go to nude. I'm not ready to talk about how when I was younger I swore I would never wear this type of "old lady non color", because  I'm not ready to admit that I am an old lady that's a post for another day. I will just say that my position has evolved and I think this is a clean, classic look.

And with that I am officially back. I'm off to read all of your posts that I've missed. Have a great week!

**And if there's not cue the final count down people and bury me with my entire nail polish collection just like Qin Shi   Huang Di and his Terracotta Army.
