There was a house we all had in common...

.....and it was called the past

I was at my mother's this weekend looking for a specific photo of her, when I found some "vintage" pics of me. I don't remember anything about the day any of the pictures were taken, but I do remember that school and piano lessons were a big part of my life back then.

In terms of style, I remember my school uniform(baby blue top with blue plaid skirt) and I  remember the sweater I'm wearing in the second pic. I loved that sweater. The zipper, the hood, the red white and blue stripes on the pockets, wrists and the hood. That could possibly be where my love of sweaters and jackets started. I also remember that my mother was obsessed, obsessed I tell you with putting ribbons in my hair.

Then the next decade started, and we moved and I started to dress myself thus so: { I've inserted a page break at this point to give you a chance to not continue on and spare your eyes. You are welcome.}

Without a word of warning...

My mother has this saying, "Every day can't be Christmas." Today was definitely not Christmas. I've  come down with a sudden, unexpected case of the blahs. I can't point to any one thing that caused it, but the fact that I have a ton of things to do(work out, finish travel plans, watch & return DVDs lent to me by a coworker, laundry, grocery shopping ), and my outfits recently have been just meh probably have something to do with it.

Hopefully this is just a passing phase. As I write this I have every intent of getting up, confirming my flights, doing the level 1 Pilates mat series, then a 30 minute HIIT circuit on the treadmill and watching Thor(because apparently I need to see that before I see The Avengers). It's me vs the blahs. It's 9:19pm. I'll let you know who won.

Thanks for reading and commenting. Take care.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent mine dodging the rain, working out, reading and attempting to understand the habits of the natives, joining Instagram(see sidebar). I also found time to get my nails painted with Dior Lucky. To me the color looks like a beautiful mix of red, pink and coral. This is another one of those colors that would complement a wide range of skin tones. I started smiling the minute the first finger was painted. I love it.

OPI Dulce de Leche, Coach Madison Satchel & Coach Leticia Heel

Things that made me happy this week: *

OPI Dulce de Leche

First up we have my mani. I've had Dulce de Leche for a while now but this is my first time wearing it. I'm not usually one that wears nude/light colors but I've been drawn to them for the past 2-3 weeks for some unknown reason. I'm wearing two coats in the pics above.

One of the area mangers came to work and saw the bottle out on my desk and decided to paint her nails with it right then and there while we caught up. So, I can vouch for it being manager approved :).

Coach Madison Satchel

Next we have this pop of sunshine. When Spring and Summer roll around, I get the urge to carry a bright sunshiney bag. I'd been looking for one since February for ages and I finally found what I was looking for in the Madison Satchel. Bright mood enhancing color-check. Big enough to lug all my stuff around-check. 25% off - double check.

Coach Leticia Patent Heels

And last but not least we have these lovely heels which now that I think about it, might have inspired my nude nail polish phase. When I first saw these I thought I would pass on them because I'm not a big fan of patent anything. The color(biscuit per Coach) and the sale offer persuaded me to change my mind, and I'm glad I did.

*Cute babies, being employed, loved ones, flowers, the TV series Sherlock, my friends and Indian buffets also made me happy this week, but I didn't take any pics of those things.

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Mother's Day. I spent mine with the mumsy having brunch and doing a little shopping, during which I lost her and had to have her paged because I couldn't find my phone to call her. I found my phone(it was in my purse all along... just hiding?) and I found my mother(she didn't think it was funny that she was paged, but I did),so all in all it was a good day.

Take care.

Dior: Addict Extreme Lipstick- Sunset Blvd & Saint-Tropez Nail Polish

Dior Saint-Tropez

Dior Saint-Tropez

Dior Addict Extreme 829 Sunset Blvd

Dior Addict Extreme 829 Sunset Blvd

Dior Addict Extreme 829 Sunset Blvd

I have a double dose of  Dior to share today. The Saint-Tropez nail polish was a re-release.  I got it this time around, I wore it, I liked it and I am now officially blue/tealed out. I know I've said that before but this time I mean it.  I'm wearing two coats in the pics above. Wear time was about a week.

The packaging for the Dior Addict Extreme lipstick caught my eye at Nordstrom so I stopped to check it out and ended up with Sunset Blvd. I liked the shine and the way it felt on my lips, soft, creamy and not sticky.  To my untrained eye Sunset Blvd seemed like a nice red.  In the pic above which was taken at night, it looks like more of a brick color. It claims to be a lip plumping, long lasting lipstick. I found once you ate something it was gone(aren't all lipsticks like that?) and I can't say I noticed any lip plumping effects, which was no biggie for me. I will definitely be checking out some other colors.

Happy Hump Day.

Workouts-April 2012

I started off like a lion with my workouts for April and then life happened.  I pulled a muscle in my back sometime around the middle of the month. Then my yoga class was cancelled one week because the teacher fell. That's how it goes sometimes.

For the next several months I'm going to be focusing on Pilates as I continue my teacher training. I'm cutting out all free weights and/or Nautilus machines like those I'm using in the pics above. I wasn't doing much of that any way but, my workouts will be strictly cardio(Spinning, Running, Elliptical, Stairmaster) Pilates and yoga for now.  Namaste :).
